Parents at the table
If you have ever felt talked at instead of heard, that changes. I will keep real lines of communication open so parents help make the calls that shape their kids' education.
I'm Archana Patel, a parent and former Oakridge shopkeeper running for Thames Valley trustee. I have read budgets and balanced books for years, and I'll bring that same care to our schools.
In 2025 the province took over our board and sidelined the trustees you elected.
Millions in deficits. Spending nobody voted on. Parents shut out of the room. I want to bring that voice back. I have run a business where the budget has to add up at the end of every month, and I will treat the board's books with the same care.
Archana, out and about in London.
I came to Canada in 2005 with a chemistry degree, a habit of double-checking my work, and a lot of hope. My first job here was as a Quality Controller, where getting the details right wasn't optional. That habit never left me.
In 2008 my family settled in London, and we have been in Oakridge ever since. For years I owned and ran the Subway at Oakridge Centre, so I have spent plenty of time on the other side of the counter from my neighbours, hearing what is working, what isn't, and what keeps parents up at night. Running a small business taught me how to make a budget balance, how to lead a team, and how to fix problems without a lot of fuss.
Beyond the business, I helped organize multicultural nights and graduation celebrations through my kids' elementary years, and I served on the board of the Hindu Cultural Centre, leading fundraising and outreach. My twin daughters are in Grade 10 at London Central Secondary School right now, so I see today's classrooms up close, not from memory.
Here is why I am running. Schools work best when families and educators are real partners. Too often parents feel talked at instead of listened to. I want to give back to the city that gave my family so much, and help build schools that are safer, more open about how decisions get made, and genuinely supportive of every kid.
Drawn from what I hear at the counter, at the school door, and around the neighbourhood.

I read a budget for a living. I will make sure dollars actually reach classrooms, and I will not be shy about asking the uncomfortable questions that keep a board honest.
Every student deserves a school where they feel safe, included, and able to do their best work. I will push hard for the supports that make that real.
I started over in a new country once. I will use that experience to bridge gaps and make sure families from every background feel they belong in our schools.
